About Simone's House
We are Simone's House, a residential care home in Uxbridge, in the London Borough of Hillingdon. We support older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays. With that range of ages and needs under one roof, support has to be planned person by person. We spend real time at the start learning how somebody communicates, what they manage on their own, where they want help and what they would rather nobody did for them, and we change the plan when it stops describing reality. Where several conditions sit together, we look for the simple explanation before the complicated one. A hearing aid that has stopped working accounts for a great deal that otherwise gets recorded as confusion. Predictability and familiar staff do much of the rest of the work. Choice runs through the day as far as it can, with help offered rather than imposed, and families and advocates are involved as much as the person wants. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
