About Us

Haslewood Avenue is a residential care home in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism, adults with physical disabilities and older people who need residential care. It is a home rather than a placement, and we try to make sure it feels that way to everyone who lives here.

Support is built individually. It can include help with personal care, medication, cooking, laundry, money and appointments, and it also covers the parts of life that matter just as much: seeing friends, going out, keeping up an interest, having something worthwhile in the week. We communicate in the way that suits each person and we let people do things their own way and at their own speed, even when stepping in would be quicker. Where somebody wants more independence, we plan support that draws back as their confidence grows.

We support younger adults alongside older residents, and we are careful not to assume that people want the same things simply because they live under one roof. Respite stays are available too, giving family carers a genuine break and letting someone try the house first.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit, meet the people who live here and see how the household actually works.
