About Us

We are a residential care home in Hemel Hempstead, providing a home for older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia.

Our aim is an unhurried house. A good deal of care is spoiled simply by being rushed, so we try to give people the time to wash, dress and eat at their own pace, and to sit with somebody who wants to talk rather than moving straight on to the next task. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Meals are cooked here and we pay attention when somebody would rather have something different.

Dementia care comes down to knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits, because that knowledge is what allows a member of staff to reassure somebody who is anxious or cannot place where they are. It is worth a great deal more than any written procedure.

Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. A planned break can be what allows a relative to keep providing care at home for longer.

Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come. Please come and see the home for yourself.
