About Us
Ashlyns Care Home sits in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, and offers residential care to older people who need a little more help than can comfortably be managed at home. We support residents living with dementia and those with a physical disability, and we also welcome people for respite stays, whether that is to give a family carer a proper rest or to help someone regain their confidence after illness.
We think a care home should feel like somewhere people live rather than somewhere people are kept. Residents set the shape of their own day. Breakfast happens when someone wakes, not when a rota says so. There is company to be found if it is wanted and peace to be had if it is not. Meals are cooked here, preferences are remembered, and nobody has to eat what they do not fancy.
Support with dementia is something we take seriously and approach calmly. We learn about a person's history, their work, their family and the things that settle them, and we use that knowledge every day. Familiar routines, unhurried conversation and staff who know the person well do more good than any amount of policy.
Families are part of the household here and are welcome whenever they wish to come. We keep relatives properly in the picture about health and wellbeing.
The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. You are very welcome to visit and judge the home for yourself.
