About Hazelwood House
Hazelwood House is a residential care home in Harrow, providing a home for older people who need support with daily living. We also care for younger adults, support residents living with dementia or a mental health condition, and offer respite stays for those who need care for a shorter period. Our aim is that people carry on being themselves here. Residents decide when they get up, where they spend their time, what they eat and how sociable they want to be. We offer company and activity for those who want it and quiet for those who do not, and nobody is pushed into anything. Because we support people with dementia and people living with a mental health condition, our staff are trained to notice and respond to distress rather than simply manage it. We learn what helps a particular person settle, what unsettles them, and what their good days look like, then we build daily life around that. Consistency and a calm approach do most of the work. We keep in close contact with GPs, community mental health teams and district nurses so that support is joined up, and we make a point of keeping families informed about how their relative is getting on. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. Please get in touch if you would like to look around and talk to us.
