About Us
Oakdene is a residential home in Waterlooville, Hampshire, for older people who need care, company and a settled place to live. We are a house rather than an institution, and we would like the people here to feel it belongs to them.
We provide residential care, which means help with personal care, medication, meals, mobility and company, with community health professionals called in when something clinical is needed. We support residents living with dementia, and the things we rely on are unglamorous and effective: familiar staff, a routine that stays the same, food people recognise, and reassurance repeated as often as it is wanted. We keep an eye on the quiet signals, whether somebody is eating and sleeping properly or seems more withdrawn than usual, because those are generally the first signs that something needs looking at.
Respite stays are available too, giving family carers a genuine rest and letting a prospective resident spend time here before any permanent decision is made.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat that as a standard to hold rather than a badge to display. If you are considering Oakdene for a relative, please come during an ordinary day, meet the people who live here and make up your own mind.
