About 4 Box Crescent

4 Box Crescent is a residential care home in Stroud, supporting adults and younger adults who have a learning disability or who are autistic. We are a small household, and being small is the point, because the support we offer depends on knowing people thoroughly. Everyone who lives here has a support plan written with them and in a form they can genuinely use. We take time to understand how each person communicates, including through routine, mood and behaviour, and we adjust what we do rather than expecting people to fit around us. Predictable days, careful attention to sensory needs and staff who do not constantly change are usually what make the difference between a settled week and a hard one. Life here is meant to look like anyone else's. People take part in the shopping and cooking, share the chores, decide what happens at the weekend, see family and friends, and get out into Stroud and the valleys around it. Where someone wants to learn to do more for themselves, we support the practice rather than taking the task over. We also offer respite stays, giving families a planned break and the person a stay somewhere they know. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
