About The Orchards

The Orchards is a residential care home at Lower Lydbrook in Gloucestershire. We support older adults and younger adults, including people with a learning disability, autistic people, people living with a physical disability, and people with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays. A rural setting suits a good many of the people who live here. It is quieter, there is space outside, and the pace of the place is not set by traffic. That said, quiet is not the same as cut off, and we make a point of getting out, keeping up with family and friends, and holding on to whatever somebody was doing before they came to us. Support with the practical parts of the day is there for anybody who wants it, offered rather than imposed. Where a person can manage something with a bit of time and encouragement, we give the time. Where physical disability or sensory loss makes a task genuinely difficult, we adapt the surroundings and the way we work rather than asking the person to adapt to us. Respite guests join in with everything, and short stays are often how families first get to know us. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you would like to visit, please arrange a time and come and have a proper look round.
