About Us
Coppice House is a residential care home in Gloucester supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, most of them younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. We are a small house deliberately, because support built around individuals works better than support built around a timetable, and because in a house this size everyone who works here knows everyone who lives here. What we are aiming at is not a tidily run home for its own sake. It is that the people living here get on with the things they actually want to do, with us handling the parts that are genuinely difficult and keeping out of the way of the parts that are not. Getting there means knowing people properly. How somebody communicates when they are anxious and words are harder to reach. What their sensory needs are. Which parts of a week are reliably hard and what actually helps when a day starts to go wrong. Support plans are written with the person in words that are theirs.
