About Us

The Retreat is a residential care home at Walton on the Naze. We support older people needing help with daily living, adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions and people with a physical disability. We also support some younger adults.

Support here is planned around the individual rather than a house routine everybody has to fit. We find out how somebody likes their day to run, what they eat, whether they want company or quiet and who we should ring when something happens, and we treat that as the substance of the care rather than paperwork.

For the autistic people we support, predictability and clear communication do most of the work. For people living with mental health conditions, consistency and staff who stay steady when things are difficult count for a great deal. Where somebody has a physical disability we take the time that moving and transfers properly require.

Respite stays are available alongside permanent places.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Essex are welcome to visit.
