About Us
Frank Foster House is a residential care home in Theydon Bois. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss.
We plan around the person rather than the building. Before somebody moves in we ask how they have always run their day, what they want help with and what they would much rather do themselves, and we write it down so that it does not depend on who is on shift. Help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication is given discreetly and at the time that suits.
For people living with dementia we keep routines steady and staff familiar, and we use what relatives tell us about a person's history rather than filing it away. Where sight or hearing loss is part of the picture, we adjust how we communicate and make the house easier to move about.
Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say so plainly. We have accepted the findings, we are working through the areas raised, and we will talk anyone through what has changed since.
Short respite stays are available. If you are considering us for yourself or a relative, please come and see the house and ask us whatever you need to ask.
