About Lime Trees

Lime Trees is a residential care home in Harwich, and we like to think of ourselves as a proper part of the town rather than a building set apart from it. People come to us when living at home has become difficult, and our aim is simply that life carries on in the way each person wants it to, with the practical help they need quietly in place around them. We provide residential care for adults, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, and people with physical disabilities or with sight and hearing loss. Because those needs sit differently in every person, we spend time at the beginning learning how someone likes their day to run, what they can manage themselves, and where they would rather we stepped in. We also support people with eating disorders, where patience, consistency and a calm approach at mealtimes matter more than anything else we could offer. Respite stays are an important part of what we do. Sometimes a family carer needs a fortnight to rest, or someone wants to try us out before making a longer decision, and a planned short stay gives everyone room to think. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are pleased with that and we treat it as a floor rather than a ceiling, because the things residents notice most are small and daily: a familiar face on shift, a cup of tea made properly, and being asked rather than told.
