About Us
Glendale Residential Care Home is in Dunmow, Essex, and we provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment.
We try to run a house rather than an institution, and the difference lies mostly in small decisions. People get up when they are ready. Meals are unhurried and worth turning up for. Someone who wants their own company can have it without being coaxed into the lounge. Help with washing and dressing is given in a way that protects dignity, which usually comes down to asking first, explaining what we are doing and never taking over a task a person can still manage.
Dementia care is a significant part of our work, and the most useful knowledge almost always comes from families. What someone did for a living, who they are thinking of when the late afternoon becomes unsettled, what music helps. We ask for that, write it down and pass it between shifts.
Respite stays are available as well as permanent places.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please do come and look round.
