About Us
Willow Health is a residential care home in Colchester supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people living with a physical disability. We work in a domestic way rather than an institutional one, because this is somewhere people live and it ought to feel like it.
Our starting point is always the individual. We spend time learning how a person communicates, what they enjoy, what unsettles them and what helps them feel secure again, and we make sure the whole team understands those things consistently. Life here is not run to a fixed timetable. People get up when they are ready, spend their days on things that interest them and keep as much say over their own routine as they want.
We also look for the everyday chances for people to do more for themselves, whether that is helping with cooking, managing their own space or getting out into Colchester with the right support alongside them.
Respite stays are available for people who need support for a short period and for families who need a proper break.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. What tells us more than a rating is whether people living here look relaxed and whether relatives feel free to turn up and ask anything. Visitors are always welcome.

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.

Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
