About Us

Care Givers is a residential care home in Colchester, supporting adults and younger adults who have a learning disability, who are autistic, or who live with mental health conditions.

The people who live here are adults with their own preferences and plans, and we run the home on that understanding. Residents have a real say in how the house works, what we eat, how their support is given and what they do with their time. Our role is to make the life someone wants practical, not to decide it for them.

Support plans are written with each person, in a form they can take part in, and revisited as things change. We pay attention to how each individual communicates and what helps them when things become difficult, because knowing that in advance is worth far more than reacting afterwards. Familiar staff, a predictable routine and respect for sensory needs matter enormously here.

We encourage people to keep hold of ordinary life, whether that is family and friends, college or work, a club, or simply going into Colchester and choosing how to spend an afternoon. Where someone wants to build a skill, we support the practice and step back when we can.

We also offer respite stays, which can give a family carer a break or provide stability at a difficult time.
