About Us

St Marks Residential Care Home is in Clacton on Sea, Essex. We care for older adults, including many people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places.

Living well with dementia depends heavily on the ordinary parts of the day being got right. Surroundings that are calm and easy to make sense of, a routine that holds steady, unhurried time, and staff who know a person's history well enough to understand what they mean when the words are not coming. That is where we put our effort, and it is why we ask families for so much detail at the beginning about a person's life, work, family and tastes.

People here keep their own belongings around them, have a say in how the day goes, and see visitors when it suits everybody rather than at set hours. Help with washing, dressing, medication and meals is given without fuss and without taking over more than is needed.

Respite is available for short stays, whether to give a family carer a proper break or to help somebody get back on their feet after hospital.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out plainly than leave you to come across it. Please visit, ask us the difficult questions, and judge the home for yourself.
