About Us

Here at Jenny's House, we are a residential care home based in Clacton on Sea, Essex, and we are proud to be part of this community. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, and that reflects the commitment our whole team brings to supporting the people who live with us every day.

We support adults with a range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, and physical disabilities. We also offer respite care, which means families and carers can have a short break knowing their loved one is in a safe, familiar and welcoming environment. Whether someone is with us long term or for a shorter stay, we aim to make sure they feel genuinely at home.

Our approach is straightforward. We get to know each person properly, understanding what matters to them, what they enjoy, and how they like their day to look. Support plans are built around the individual rather than fitting people into a routine that suits us. We believe that good care means listening as much as it means doing, and our team works hard to build real, trusting relationships with the people in our care and with their families.

Being located in Clacton on Sea means we have a wonderful seaside town on our doorstep, and we love making the most of that. Getting out and about, staying connected to the local community, and having opportunities to do things that bring genuine enjoyment are all things we take seriously.

If you are looking for care for yourself or someone you love, we would always encourage you to come and visit us, have a look around, and ask us anything you like. We think the best way to understand what Jenny's House is like is simply to come and meet us.

More about the care at Jenny's House

What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.

Learning Disability / Autism

A home for adults with a learning disability or autism should feel like a household rather than a service, with routines that belong to the people living there. Jenny's House is registered for this group, so ask how each person's plan is agreed and how sensory preferences and communication needs are recorded. Councils and health commissioners usually arrange and review these placements.

Physical Disability

How much of a building a disabled resident can use is decided by thresholds, bathrooms and the width of doorways. Jenny's House is registered to support people with a physical disability, and since the register describes no part of the premises, a visit is essential. Ask about hoists, assisted bathing, wheelchair access outdoors and how personal care is given without indignity.

Respite Care

A planned fortnight in a home can relieve a carer and reassure everyone that a longer stay would be tolerable. Jenny's House is registered for respite, with a week or two the usual minimum and holiday dates filling early. Pack everyday clothes, toiletries and medication in its pharmacy packaging, with a familiar object or two for the room.

Residential Care

Residential care is about ordinary life being made manageable, with meals cooked, laundry done and help given with washing, dressing and medicines. Jenny's House in Clacton on Sea is registered for residential care and for supporting adults with a learning disability or a physical disability. Because no nurse is required on the premises, clinical care comes from the GP and district nursing team, so ask how that is arranged. The home holds a good rating from its February 2020 inspection, which the provider itself mentions in its own description. Private fees in the East commonly run from £1000 to £1350 a week, while Essex usually funds at £750 to £900. Ask what the weekly charge covers and whether a top up would be expected.
