About Us

Bridgemarsh Residential Home is in Chelmsford. We provide residential care for adults, including people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability and people with visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available too.

Supporting a mixed group under one roof means we cannot run the home to a single pattern, and we do not try. What we aim for is a place where people are taken as they come and where support is built around the individual. Some residents want a very structured day. Others want the opposite, plenty of freedom and somewhere steady to come back to.

Where someone has a physical disability or reduced sight or hearing, we pay attention to the practical details. Equipment that suits the person, a layout that stays predictable, things kept where people expect to find them, and staff who adapt how they communicate rather than expecting the person to manage.

For residents with a learning disability or who are autistic, the environment itself is part of the support. Noise, lighting and how predictable the day is all matter, and so does having somewhere quiet to go.

With dementia, familiar staff and a steady rhythm do most of the work, and we treat distress as something with a cause.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit Bridgemarsh and ask us anything.
