About Us

Hollyveer House is a residential care home in Benfleet, Essex, and we support older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia and those living with mental ill health, along with younger adults and people in recovery from problems with alcohol or drugs. Respite stays are available as well.

A household this varied only works if people are treated as individuals rather than as categories. Support is agreed with the person, written in terms they recognise, and reviewed as things change. Some residents need a great deal of practical help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility. Others mainly want a settled place to live, a team who do not judge, and a house that holds together when a bad week arrives. Recovery is rarely a straight line and we plan for that.

For residents living with dementia we keep routines and surroundings familiar and give people time instead of hurrying them along.

We should be open about our position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have worked through the findings with our team, and those areas are where our effort is concentrated at present. We would rather tell you ourselves and be asked about it.

Families and professionals considering Hollyveer House are welcome to visit on an ordinary day and question us closely.
