About Us
Coates Garden House is a residential care home in Patrington, supporting adults with a learning disability and adults who are autistic. We are a small home in a quiet part of the East Riding, and being small is central to how we work, because the support we offer depends on knowing people thoroughly.
Everybody who lives here has a support plan written with them and in a form they can use. We pay close attention to how each person communicates, including through routine, mood and behaviour, and we adjust what we do rather than expecting the person to adjust to us. A predictable day, respect for sensory needs and familiar staff are usually what keep life here settled and enjoyable.
We want the house to run like a home. That means shopping and cooking, chores shared out, choices about weekends, visits from family and friends, and getting out into the surrounding villages and countryside. Where someone wants to learn to do more for themselves, we support the practice rather than doing the job for them.
We also offer respite stays, which give families a planned break and let the person enjoy a stay somewhere they know. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and you are welcome to visit us.

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
