About Us
Shenstone Court Care Home is in Halesowen. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, along with respite and short stays.
We are not a large place and we do not try to be one. What we offer is a comfortable house where older people are properly looked after, treated as adults and left in charge of their own days as far as they are able. People bring their own furniture and pictures, keep their own routines and decide for themselves how much they want to be part of what is going on.
Dementia care here rests on familiarity. We keep staffing as consistent as we can, we do not rush anybody, and we take the trouble to learn what calms a particular person, because it differs from one resident to the next. Families often find this stage hard, and we make time for them too, with honest conversations rather than reassurance for its own sake.
Meals are cooked on the premises and residents tell us what they would like to see on the menu. There is something going on most days for those who want it, and no obligation for those who do not.
We work closely with local GPs and district nurses so that changes in health are noticed early.
Visitors are welcome through the day, and you need not arrange it in advance. Please come and see the home for yourself and talk to the people living in it.
