About Beatrice House
Beatrice House is a residential care home in Brierley Hill supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We are a house rather than a unit, and the people who live here are involved in how their own home is run, from what goes on the shopping list to how the week is arranged. Support is planned individually. Some of the people here need help with most parts of the day; others need very little practical help but rely on us for routine, encouragement and staff who understand how they communicate and what makes a day difficult. We take our time working that out at the start and we ask the people who know a person best. Everyday life covers the ordinary business of a household: cooking, shopping, laundry, keeping your own room as you like it, deciding what to do at the weekend and getting out locally. We support people to do as much for themselves as they can and want to, even when that takes longer than doing it for them. Our staff are trained for the individuals they support, including communication and positive ways of responding when somebody is distressed, and we keep the team settled so that people are not always meeting new faces. Respite stays are available and give family carers a genuine break. Please get in touch if you would like to come and see the house.
