About Us
Here at Ivers, we are a residential care home based in the heart of Sturminster Newton, Dorset. We support adults with learning disabilities and autism, including younger adults who are beginning their journey with us, whether that is for a longer term placement or a period of respite care.
We know that choosing the right care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we do not take that trust lightly. Our team works hard to make sure that everyone who lives here feels genuinely at home, with their individual needs, preferences and routines respected from day one. We take time to get to know each person properly, because good care starts with understanding who someone is, not just what support they need.
Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good across our services, which reflects the effort our staff put in day to day. We are proud of that rating, though we see it as a marker of where we are rather than a ceiling for what we can achieve.
For those who need a short break, our respite care offers families and carers some breathing space while knowing their loved one is being well looked after in a familiar and settled environment. We try to make respite stays feel as comfortable and consistent as possible, so that the transition in and out feels straightforward for everyone involved.
Sturminster Newton is a lovely part of Dorset, and being part of this community matters to us. We encourage connections beyond our front door, whether that is getting out and about locally or simply enjoying the pace of life that this part of the world offers.
If you would like to find out more about Ivers, we would be very happy to hear from you.

Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?
No. Ivers is not listed for dementia care on the CQC register. If dementia is likely, choose a home that is, so a second move is not needed later. Source: CQC register

Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.

Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
