About Us
Here at Ponderosa, we provide residential care for adults in the heart of Doncaster, and we take real pride in the community we have built within our home.
We support a range of individuals, including younger adults living with learning disabilities or autism, those with visual or hearing impairments, and people who need short term respite care. Every person who comes through our door has a different story, different strengths, and different needs, and we work hard to make sure our support reflects that. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach. We take the time to get to know each person properly, understanding what matters most to them in their daily life and building care around that.
Our team genuinely cares about the people we support. That shows in the small things as much as the big ones, whether that is making sure someone starts their morning the way they like it, or working closely with families to keep them informed and involved. We want relatives to feel confident and reassured, knowing their loved one is in a place where they are respected and looked after properly.
We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us as Good. That reflects the hard work of our staff and the trust that residents and their families place in us, and we do not take that lightly. We continue to look at how we can do things better and make sure the standard of care remains consistently high.
If you are considering Ponderosa for yourself or a loved one, we would love to hear from you. We are always happy to have a conversation, show you around, and answer any questions you might have. We want you to feel at ease from the very first moment you contact us.

Questions families ask about Ponderosa
Answered from the CQC register where we can. 5 of these the home has not told us yet, so ask when you call.
Can Mum or Dad stay here if their dementia gets worse?
No. Ponderosa is not listed for dementia care on the CQC register. If dementia is likely, choose a home that is, so a second move is not needed later. Source: CQC register
Is there a nurse on site if health needs change?
No. Ponderosa is a residential care home without on-site nursing. District nurses and GPs visit, but someone who needs daily nursing may have to move to a nursing home. Source: CQC register
Can they try a short stay before deciding?

Will they support end of life care, so there is no move at the hardest time?
Ask the home. End of life care is not listed on the register. Ask the manager whether residents can remain in the home with hospice or district nurse support.
Can she bring her cat or dog?
Ask the home. The home has not told us its pet policy yet. Ask directly; some homes allow small pets in residents' rooms or welcome visiting dogs.
Can a couple stay together?
Ask the home. We do not know whether the home has rooms for couples. Ask about shared or adjoining rooms if this matters.
Will the council help pay, or is it self funded only?
Ask the home. The home has not told us which funding it accepts. Most homes take both council funded and self funded residents; ask about council rates and any top up. Use our funding calculator to check what you might pay.
Do they take younger adults as well as older people?
Yes. Ponderosa supports younger adults as well as older people. Source: CQC register
Can I visit before deciding, and are there visiting hours?
Ask the home. Every home should welcome a visit. Call to arrange one, ideally at a mealtime or during an activity, and ask about visiting hours for family.
