About Fair View Lodge
Fair View Lodge is a residential care home in Newton Abbot in Devon, supporting adults, including younger adults, who have a learning disability or autism. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. This is a home rather than a placement, and we try to make that true in practice. People here have their own rooms and their own belongings, and they have a genuine say in how the house runs, from the weekly shop to what happens at the weekend. Where a choice is genuinely difficult, our job is to support the person to make it rather than to take it over. Our team supports people to do as much for themselves as they want to. That might mean cooking and shopping together rather than doing it for somebody, learning a route into town, keeping a job or a college course going, managing money, or having the right kind of help with appointments and letters. Where somebody communicates without speech we take time to learn how they do communicate and we write it down so that every member of staff responds in the same way. When life becomes difficult we look for the cause rather than reaching for a label, and we plan ahead with the person, in calm moments, about what actually helps. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please visit as often as you need before making any decision, and ask us whatever you want to know.
