About Kahala Court

Kahala Court is a residential care home in Kingsbridge for older people who are finding it hard to manage alone but who do not need nursing care. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and the ordinary business of the day, without taking over the parts somebody can still do themselves. What we care most about is that this feels like a home rather than a place where people are kept. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they sit, what they watch and whether they want company or their own quiet room. Nobody is moved along to suit a timetable. Meals are cooked here and we ask people what they actually want to eat. Visitors are welcome without appointment, and families are free to stay for a cup of tea or take a relative out for the afternoon. Many of our residents have known this part of Devon all their lives, so keeping links with it going matters. We also offer respite stays. These can give a family carer a genuine rest, help somebody regain strength after illness, or let a person see what living here is like before making any lasting decision. Come and see us, meet the staff and ask us anything you want.
