About Manor Lodge Care Home

Manor Lodge is a residential care home in Exmouth. We support older people and younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, physical disabilities, and sight and hearing loss. Respite stays are part of what we do. A good deal of our work lies in details that are easy to overlook. A room arranged so that somebody can manage it independently. Lighting, contrast and clear signs that make sense to a person with poor vision or with dementia. A hearing aid that has been checked and is actually working, because a conversation somebody cannot follow is worse than no conversation at all. Equipment within reach, so that moving about does not mean waiting for help. None of it is dramatic and all of it decides whether a day goes well. Beyond that we try to keep life ordinary. People choose their own routines, keep their own things around them, eat food cooked here with real choice at each meal, and have company or quiet as they prefer. Help with washing, dressing and mobility is given at the person's own pace and recorded carefully so it happens the same way whoever is on duty. With dementia we rely on knowing somebody well, so we gather a person's history with their family and keep adding to it. We are registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission, and anyone thinking about a move is welcome to visit.
