About 23 Cecil Road

23 Cecil Road is a small residential care home in Dronfield, Derbyshire. We support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, most of them younger adults, in a house that is meant to feel like a home rather than a service. Because we are small, we can plan around people rather than around a timetable. Residents get up when they choose, take part in cooking and shopping if they want to, keep their own routines and arrange their rooms as they please. Support is agreed with each person and reviewed with them, and we are careful that helping does not slide into taking over. For autistic residents in particular we pay close attention to predictability, communication and sensory needs. Quiet space, consistent staff and clear information about what is happening next prevent a great deal of unnecessary distress. People here keep up their connections outside the house, whether that is family, friends, college, work or activities they have always enjoyed. Where someone wants to try something new, our job is to work out how to make it possible. We also offer respite stays, giving families a planned break while their relative is somewhere they know. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. If you would like to look round, please get in touch and we will arrange a visit.
