About Ada Belfield Centre
The Ada Belfield Centre in Belper provides residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, residents with a physical disability and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also support some younger adults whose needs suit a home of this kind. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and whatever else has become difficult, and we leave people in charge of the rest. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they spend the day, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet afternoon on their own. For residents living with dementia we keep the house familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and take time to work out what lies behind a change in mood rather than treating it as a symptom. Where somebody has a physical disability the right equipment is in place and staff are trained to help with moving safely and comfortably. For residents with sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate and do not move things without saying so. Meals are cooked here and we ask people what they actually want to eat, and being in the middle of the town means shops and familiar streets are close at hand. Respite stays are available. Please ring us if you would like to look round.
