About Allison House Residential Home
Allison House Residential Home is in Sandy, and we provide residential care for older people, for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and for people living with dementia or with a physical disability. Respite stays are available as well. Supporting such a range of people works only if we treat everyone as an individual rather than as a category. Some residents want a full day of company and occupation. Others prefer their own room, the radio and a visit from family. We ask, we listen, and we change our approach when what we are doing is not working. Practical things matter. The house is arranged so that people with reduced mobility can move around it independently, and we have equipment and trained staff for those who need help transferring or with personal care. For autistic residents we think carefully about noise, light and routine, and we give plenty of notice before anything changes. Our staff tend to stay with us for a long time, which we think is the single biggest reason families trust us. People are cared for by staff who know them, not by a rota of strangers. We work with local GPs, district nurses and community therapy teams so that health needs do not go unnoticed. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
