About Sharnbrook Care Home
Sharnbrook Care Home is a residential home in Dunstable, Bedfordshire. We are a permanent home to older people, and we also offer respite stays for people who need care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. Most of our residents need help with washing and dressing, moving about safely, medication and meals, and reassurance that somebody is nearby at night. A good number are living with dementia, and that shapes the whole house rather than one corner of it. The day follows a recognisable pattern, the same familiar staff are around, people keep their own belongings and habits, and somebody who is anxious gets time and company rather than correction. We also support people with physical disabilities, where equipment, seating and access decide how much independence somebody actually has. Food is cooked on the premises and people are asked what they would like. There is somewhere sociable to sit and somewhere quiet, a garden that gets used when the weather allows, and visitors do not need an appointment. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Choosing a home for yourself or a relative is a difficult thing to do, so please come and visit, more than once if that helps, and ask us the awkward questions.
