About Us

Woodlands Residential Care Home is a care home in Huntingdon supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, with respite stays available alongside permanent places.

Coming to live in a care home is a significant change, and often not one that anybody chose lightly. We try to make the move as gentle as we can by learning about the person before they arrive, keeping what can be kept of their routine, and making sure that the people caring for them already know something about who they are.

Once somebody is here, the ordinary decisions stay theirs. Getting up and going to bed, meals, company, quiet, visitors, how the room looks and what happens in the day. Our staff are here to make those choices workable, not to tidy them into a schedule.

For residents living with dementia we hold the routine steady, allow far more time than seems efficient, and treat distress as something with a reason behind it. Families are a great help to us here, and we ask them to keep telling us about the person we are looking after.

Respite stays can give a family carer a planned break or provide support while somebody recovers.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Do come and visit if you are considering the home for someone.
