About Us

Oakley House is a residential care home in Eaton Socon supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays.

This is somebody's home before it is anything else. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat, when they get up and how much of the day they spend in company. Those choices are most of what makes a place worth living in, and they take steady effort to protect when staff change and pressures build.

Support is planned around what each person wants to be able to do rather than only around risk. Cooking, shopping, managing money, using the bus, getting to college, work or activities, and keeping up with family and friends. Where somebody needs a great deal of help, we still look hard for the parts they can take on themselves, because independence disappears quietly unless somebody is watching for it.

Communication and environment get real attention. We learn how each person tells us what they want, including those who use little or no speech, and we adapt to them rather than the reverse. Noise, lighting, predictability and having somewhere quiet to retreat to all shape how good a day somebody has.

Respite stays give families a break and give the person staying somewhere settled and properly set up for them.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.

Ask the home. The register does not say which age groups the home supports. Ask the home.
