About Us
Pauline Burnet House is a residential care home in Cambridge, and we support adults with learning disabilities, autistic people and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available too, giving families a planned break in the knowledge that the person they care for is settled.
We run a household rather than a facility. People here have their own rooms and their own belongings, and a genuine say over how the day goes. The staff team is kept consistent, because support from people who know you well is quite different from support from whoever happens to be on shift. Changes are explained in advance, the shape of the week holds, and we take sensory comfort seriously.
Support covers personal care, medication, meals, money and the practical business of running a home, and wherever we can we do things alongside people rather than for them, because independence is far easier to keep than to win back. For those with physical disabilities the emphasis is on equipment that fits properly and transfers handled safely and without embarrassment.
We are also interested in what people want beyond the house. Cambridge has a great deal in it, and getting out to college, work, hobbies, friends and family is part of what we support rather than an afterthought.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families, social workers and anybody considering Pauline Burnet House for somebody are welcome to visit and ask us whatever they need to know.
