About Us
Hatley Court is a residential care home in Cambridge. We support older people, including those living with dementia, adults with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and some younger adults, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places.
We try to run the home around the people in it rather than around a timetable. Residents decide when to get up, what to eat and how to spend the day. Some are out and about or busy with visitors. Others prefer their own room and quiet. Neither needs justifying.
Where someone has a physical disability or reduced sight or hearing, we pay attention to the practical details that make independence possible. Equipment that is right for the person, a layout that stays predictable, and staff who adapt how they communicate rather than expecting the person to manage. Being over helped is a real loss, and we try to avoid it.
Dementia care here depends on familiar faces, a steady rhythm and knowing something of a person's earlier life. Families often tell us the small details, and those are usually the ones that matter when somebody is unsettled.
Cambridge gives us plenty of reasons to get out, and trips are a normal part of the week rather than an occasion.
Respite stays are available for planned breaks and at shorter notice.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Anyone thinking about Hatley Court is welcome to visit, talk to residents and ask us the difficult questions.
