About Pratt House
Pratt House is a residential care home in Amersham. We look after older people who have reached the point where managing alone has become hard work, and we also support younger adults who need residential care. Our aim is a house that feels like a home rather than a facility. People get up when they wake, eat food they actually like, and spend their days as they choose, in company or quietly on their own. Families are welcome whenever they want to come, and we would far rather relatives dropped in as part of ordinary life than arranged formal visits. We also offer respite stays. Sometimes a family carer needs a fortnight to rest, and sometimes someone needs support for a few weeks after illness or a spell in hospital before going home again. Either way we settle people in properly rather than treating them as temporary. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. It matters to us, but the question we ask ourselves more often is whether somebody looks settled and content a month after moving in, because that is the real measure. If you are looking for a home for yourself or someone close to you, please come and see us. Call in on a normal day, meet the people who live here, and ask us anything you want to know.
