About Fairlight
Fairlight is a residential care home in Chislehurst for older people, including those living with dementia and people with physical disabilities or sight and hearing loss. We are a domestic sort of place rather than an institutional one. Help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication is given discreetly and at the time that suits the person. Before somebody moves in we spend time learning how they have always run their day, and those preferences are written down so that staff follow them rather than a house routine. For people living with dementia we keep the day familiar and unhurried, and we ask families to tell us about the life behind the person, the work they did, the family they talk about and what settles them when they are anxious. We use that daily rather than filing it away. Where sight or hearing loss is part of the picture, we adjust how we communicate and make sure the house is easy to find your way around. Meals are cooked on the premises and mealtimes are sociable and unrushed. Visitors are welcome whenever they want to come. Short respite stays are available, often after a spell in hospital or to give a carer at home a proper rest. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we would be pleased to show you round.
