About Us

We at Acorn House Acorn Watford are proud to offer a welcoming residential care home in Brighton, providing specialist support for adults with learning disabilities and autism. Nestled within the vibrant coastal community of Brighton and Hove, our home is a place where individuality is celebrated and every resident is supported to live a full, meaningful life.

Our setting in the BN postcode area places us within easy reach of the wider Brighton community, allowing residents to enjoy the character and amenities of one of the South East's most beloved seaside cities. The familiar surroundings of the local area help our residents feel connected to their neighbourhood, whilst the comforts of home give them a peaceful and secure base to return to each day.

At the heart of what we do is our commitment to person centred residential care for adults with learning disabilities and those on the autism spectrum. We understand that every individual has their own preferences, communication styles, routines, and aspirations, and we take the time to truly understand each person we support. Our team works closely with residents and their loved ones to build daily routines that feel comfortable, purposeful, and empowering. Whether that means supporting someone to develop new skills, pursue a hobby, take part in community activities, or simply enjoy quiet moments in familiar surroundings, we are here to make it happen.

We also offer respite care, providing a warm and welcoming short stay option for individuals whose regular carers may need a break, or for families exploring residential care for the first time. Respite with us is more than a temporary stay; it is a genuine opportunity for guests to feel included, engaged, and cared for from the moment they arrive. Families can take the time they need with the reassurance that their loved one is in kind, capable hands.

Our approach is grounded in dignity, respect, and consistency. For families of adults with learning disabilities or autism, we know how important it is to find a home where your loved one is genuinely understood. That is why we place such value on building trusting relationships, listening carefully, and responding to each resident as the unique individual they are. From supporting communication needs to creating sensory friendly environments and encouraging independence at a pace that feels right, our aim is always to help residents thrive.

We are pleased to share that our home has been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led, following our most recent inspection in April 2022. This consistent rating reflects the dedication of our team and reassures families that the care provided here meets the standards expected of a trusted residential setting. For loved ones making an important decision about care, we hope this offers genuine peace of mind.

Choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we understand the emotions involved.
