About Us
Shaftesbury Court is a residential care home in Erith. We support older people and younger adults, including people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places.
Moving into a care home should not mean handing over the ordinary decisions of your life, so people here keep their own belongings, follow their own routines as far as they can, and decide for themselves whether to join in with what is happening or spend the day quietly. Someone can have a lie in, eat later, or sit outside when the weather allows.
Where a person has a physical disability, how support is given matters as much as what is given. We learn how somebody prefers to be helped, how much they want to do themselves, and what makes them feel hurried, and we write that down so it does not vary with whoever is on shift.
Sensory loss is easy to overlook and it makes everything else harder, so we check that hearing aids and glasses are working and being used, keep rooms well lit and free of clutter, and give people the time to answer.
Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering residential care or respite in Bexley, please come and visit at an ordinary time of day and see how the home feels.
