About Lodge
Bedford Lodge is a residential care home in Bedford, supporting adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairment, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays for shorter periods. The people who live here call it home, and our job is to help each of them live the life they choose within it. Support is planned one person at a time. We help with personal care where it is wanted, with cooking, laundry and shopping, with medication and appointments, and with the practical business of running a home. We also support people to get out into Bedford, to keep up the activities they enjoy and to stay close to family and friends. Communication and routine are at the centre of good support here. We take time to learn how each person prefers information to be given, how they tell us that something is wrong and which parts of the day need to stay the same. For residents with sensory loss we adapt how we communicate and how rooms are arranged, and for residents with physical disabilities we pay close attention to mobility and to the arrangements that let someone do more without help. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather be judged on whether the people living here feel genuinely at home and have a real say in their support.
